1. AFAÂ’09 Regional Cosplay Championship Finalist and Cosplay Pre-Registration

Well, the results for the AFA09 Regional Cosplay Championship have been announced! The AFA Cosplay Committee has chosen which groups will represent their country for the top title as “South-East Asia’s Best Cosplayer”. Representing The Philippines: Alodia & Ashley; Indonesia: The Endless Illusion; Singapore: ST Revolution; Singapore: 00 Emotions; Malaysia: Sakai no Gumi; and for Thailand: Houshin Engi. The winning team will take home a trip for 2 to Tokyo, Japan as the grand prize.

2. Image Anime Cosplay Contest Announced

Image Anime (located at 242 West 30th Street., New York City, USA) is hosting an in-house cosplay contest for local anime fans on Halloween. The contest begins at 4 p.m. on October 31, 2009 and runs until 6:30 p.m.. ThereÂ’ll be separate categories for guys and girls. A couple important notes: no weapons, there are no changing rooms, and cosplays must have a PG rating.

3. Cosplay Contest at Eastwood City’s “Sleepless Halloween Nights” Event

Eastwood City (Philippines) is hosting a cosplay contest on October 30, 2009. Registration is at 7 p.m., and the contest begins at 8 p.m. The prizes range from McDonaldÂ’s giftcards to Eastwood City Cinema Passes. Visit http://www.philanime.com for more information.

4. Japanese Doujin Cosplay Work Collections

A set of cosplay photos inspired by the Doujin animation culture of Japan has been uploaded over at mmosite.com. 5. Japan Sends Journalists to New York Anime Fest

Iza, a Japanese news site, send a correspondent to the United State’s New York Anime Fest. A fan was kind enough to translate it, and pointed out that this writer from Japan was impressed with the “overall level of cosplay” showcased at the convention. 6. BAGGER Cosplay Gala Quickly Approaching

For those cosplayers in The Netherlands, the The Boers And Anime Guild Groningen region (BAGGER) Cosplay Gala is an event you wonÂ’t want to miss. It is being held October 31, 2009 in Huis ‘De Beurs’, Groningen. Tickets are 10 Euros. There is a dress code for this event, and some house rules that need to be observed. 7. Register Now for J-popcon 2009!

J-popcon is Denmark’s largest festival of Japanese popular culture, including anime, manga, cosplay, music, games, movies, etc. and is held every year in Valby Culture in November. However, if you definitely want to go, you better pre-register, because there is a cap on attendance. J-popcon will be the event that selects DenmarkÂ’s representatives at the World Cosplay Summit.
